Applications are invited for a software developer position (part time) at the Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna in the group of Dr. Simon Rumpel.

We offer a dynamic and international working environment at the forefront of the life sciences. Our group is interested in synaptic and circuit mechanisms of memory formation. In order to explore how the brain stores information over long periods of time, we apply a variety of methods ranging from molecular biology, physiology and behavior. Please visit our web site for further details (http://www.imp.ac.at/research/simon-rumpel).

Many of the scientific approaches are novel and require development of software tools for data analysis and control of experimental setups. The software developer will work closely with individual scientists in the lab to create these new tools.

Successful applicants should have at least 1-2 years of experience in programming and ideally also hardware interfacing. In-depth knowledge of Matlab is a pre-requisite, whereas knowledge in further programming languages is considered as additional qualification. Next to the primary qualifications, communication skills and curiosity for the biology of the brain are considered important.
