I’ve been looking at what makes a business website actually useful beyond just having a good-looking design.
In my experience, an effective business website should focus on a few important areas:
- Clear navigation so visitors can quickly find what they need
- Mobile-friendly layouts that work well across devices
- Fast-loading pages and optimized images
- Clear calls to action for enquiries or purchases
- Simple, readable content
- Trust elements such as testimonials, contact details, and company information
- A structure that is also easy for search engines to understand
Design is important, but a website also needs to support the business goal behind it. A visually attractive website that is difficult to navigate or doesn't generate enquiries can still perform poorly.
