Laptop Display einrichten

ich krieg das dumme display von meinem laptop nur auf 800x600 zu laufen

mein system:
gentoo-2.6.7
x11
gnome

nach dem booten hab ich zwar ein terminal mit 1024x768 aber sobald ich den xserver starte kommt nur 800x600

bitte helft mir ich bin am verzweifen und alles schaut so grindig aus (sonst würd ich eh selber im netz nach ner lösung suchen, aber es is echt eine zumutung :distur:)

in der xorg.conf steht folgendes:
